Reports on Russian and Estonian news sites suggest that the crew and maritime security operators arrested by Indian authorities in October last year on board the MV Seaman Guard Ohio have now been released on bail.
Last week, as noted on this blog, the vessel’s owner, the American PMSC AdvanFort, parted company with the UK lawyers, Ince & Co., who had been working on the case. Fortunately, the Indian legal team have done a creditable job and, according to Stephen Askins of Ince, 33 of the 35 are now out on bail. Apparently, the ship’s Captain and AdvanFort’s UK Team Leader were not granted bail at this time, although the reasons for this remain unclear. Credit to Indian lawyer, Thushara James at Menon and Pai, for getting the men out at last.
